The firm, a spinout of Thrive Capital, reaches a $12 billion valuation as it scales its model of acquiring traditional businesses to implement AI workflows.

Thrive Holdings has raised $2 billion in new funding, bringing the company's valuation to $12 billion, as TechCrunch first reported. The funding round included participation from SoftBank, Altimeter Capital, and D1 Capital Partners.

Thrive Holdings operates as a private equity-style vehicle for artificial intelligence, acquiring traditional companies to integrate AI into their operations. The company emerged as a spinout of Thrive Capital, with OpenAI acquiring an ownership stake in December 2025. As part of that arrangement, OpenAI provides employees to work directly with Thrive's portfolio companies to accelerate adoption, TechCrunch reports.

To date, Thrive has focused on two primary verticals: Current, an accounting arm consisting of over 50 firms and 2,000 professionals, and Shield, an information technology arm with approximately 20 companies. Thrive claims its "TaxAI" agents processed over 7,000 returns with 98% accuracy and reduced preparation times by more than 30%. Additionally, Shield's AI tools have reportedly increased help desk resolution speeds by 36x.

Thrive intends to use the new capital to launch a third vertical focused on regulatory services for the built environment. Founding member Anuj Mehndiratta told TechCrunch the goal is to address regulatory and technical complexities associated with critical infrastructure, including power, healthcare, transportation, and data centers. Founding member Kareem Zaki stated the AI is intended to assist experts in compressing regulatory bottlenecks and reducing costs without replacing professional sign-off or field work.

This model of embedding engineers into enterprises is becoming a broader trend; TechCrunch notes that Anthropic has launched "Ode with Anthropic" and OpenAI has partnered with private equity firms to launch "The Deployment Company," both of which are billion-dollar ventures.
