The new wireless desktop audio system targets PS5 and PC users with planar magnetic drivers and low-latency connectivity.

Sony is expanding its audio ecosystem with the launch of the Pulse Elevate wireless gaming speakers, scheduled to arrive on November 12. Priced at $219.99, the desktop speakers are designed to integrate with the PlayStation 5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac, according to reporting from The Verge and Engadget.

First announced nearly a year ago, the Pulse Elevate system features "studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers" which Sony claims provide lifelike sound across the audible spectrum to reproduce audio as developers intended. Engadget reports the hardware includes woofers, a microphone designed to suppress background noise, and support for Tempest 3D AudioTech for spatial audio.

To handle connectivity, the speakers utilize Sony's proprietary PlayStation Link low-latency technology and include a USB-C adaptor. Beyond the PlayStation ecosystem, the speakers support Bluetooth and multipoint pairing. Users can customize presets and other settings via a PC or PS5. The hardware also features tilting capabilities and includes charging docks for the batteries, though Engadget notes that Sony has not yet disclosed specific battery life figures, stating only that they will play for "hours."

Pre-orders for the Pulse Elevate speakers begin September 1 at 10 a.m. ET in the U.S. (and 10 a.m. local time in other regions). The speakers will be available in two colors: white and "Midnight" (black). The Verge reports that while the black version will be available globally through participating retailers and the PlayStation Direct website, the white version will be limited to PlayStation Direct in several European markets—including France, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal—as well as the U.S. and U.K., with availability at "select" retailers in other regions.
