Quilty-Harper told The Register he developed the utility after discovering OpenAI does not allow easy data export for Business accounts. The tool functions by navigating a logged-in browser session to store conversations and file attachments in a local HTML archive.
Quilty-Harper warned The Register that the tool may eventually stop working if OpenAI closes the loophole it exploits, noting it likely breaches the company's terms of service. Because OpenAI throttles high-frequency requests, the tool's README indicates that downloading an archive of 600 chats can take several hours.
