MasterCraft Brings Smartphone Integration to Pontoon Boats

MasterCraft Boat Holdings has announced that Apple's CarPlay and Android Auto are expanding from the road to the water. Starting next month, new pontoon models from MasterCraft sub-brands Crest and Balise will launch with these infotainment features built into the helm, according to Engadget.
While the systems allow users to access tunes and apps like WhatsApp, they also integrate specialized marine pilotage tools. Engadget reports that Savvy Navvy will serve as the default navigation app, offering users 2D and 3D Savvy Charts, live location sharing, and nearby boat traffic. The system also includes smart routing for anchorages, harbors, and marinas, as well as a navigation mode with a live ETA.
Savvy Navvy CEO Jelte Liebrand stated that the integration allows boaters to plan trips from home and have those plans ready at the helm upon boarding. While the feature comes standard on 2027 models for Balise and the Caribbean and Crest Conquest lines, Savvy Navvy notes that its app is compatible with other aftermarket marine head units. Customers who purchase these boats will also receive access to Savvy Navvy Premium.
Users can link their devices to the helm via Bluetooth or a wired connection, and the app is currently available for Android and iOS.
