The company is introducing 'Build,' a feature allowing users to generate games via text prompts directly within the mobile app.

Roblox is expanding its integration of artificial intelligence with an upcoming feature called "Build," a new tool that enables users to create basic games using text prompts directly within the Roblox mobile app, according to reporting from The Verge.

Build utilizes a combination of open-source models and Roblox's proprietary AI to generate characters, environments, visual styles, sound, and gameplay mechanics. The company describes the tool as a means for the "rapid exploration and refinement of ideas." While a base-level version of Build will be free, Roblox spokesperson Juliet Chaitin-Lefcourt told The Verge that "additional paid options for power users" will be available, though specific details have not yet been disclosed.

To mitigate the risk of low-quality content, Roblox stated that its discovery systems prioritize long-term retention, asserting that "AI slop" will not be highlighted on the homepage if users do not play the experiences.

Beyond Build, Roblox is developing AI agents for both the mobile tool and Roblox Studio. These upcoming agents will focus on analytics, playtesting, and running experiments to boost monetization, retention, and engagement. Other AI initiatives mentioned by The Verge include an AI assistant chatbot for developers and a foundation model for generating 3D game assets.

Build begins public alpha on July 28th, open to New Zealand users who are at least nine years old and have verified their ages. Published games created through the tool will be playable globally by users aged 16 and older.
