Lenovo Addresses Legion Go Bricking After BIOS Update

Lenovo has confirmed that some Legion Go devices experienced a blank screen during the installation of BIOS version V42, according to reporting from The Verge. The company has since removed the update from its support website while validation work continues.

According to a statement provided to The Verge by communications director Jeff Witt, the update was not distributed via Legion Space or Windows Update. Lenovo suggests that users experiencing a blank screen attempt to hold the power button for roughly 10 seconds, wait one minute, and then restart. If the device remains unresponsive, the company advises contacting Lenovo Support.

The issue specifically affected the original Legion Go 8APU1 model, rather than the Legion Go 2 or Legion Go S, and required users to have downloaded the BIOS V42 (N3CN42WW) directly from the company's site. The Verge reports that some users on Reddit shared repair bills reaching nearly $300.

On official company forums, an employee identified as "Daniel_Legion" suggested that affected devices should be repaired free of charge, regardless of warranty status, though he noted that out-of-warranty repairs would depend on local laws. Daniel_Legion further stated on the forums that a European team reproduced the issue in three out of three tested devices, suggesting the failure may be linked to specific components used in certain batches.
