The developer of the non-text AI model Jev sees a massive valuation surge driven by enterprise demand for automation efficiency.
TypeSafe AI has raised $870 million in a funding round that values the company at $7.5 billion, according to TechCrunch. The round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with contributions from Sequoia and current investor DCVC.
The valuation arrives shortly after the September 15 release of Jev, a non-text AI model. While based on transformer architecture, Jev differs from large language models (LLMs) by producing "calibrated decisions" or probabilities rather than text or code. TypeSafe claims the model is specifically designed for automation, operating significantly faster and utilizing fewer tokens than traditional LLMs.
TypeSafe reports that one-third of Fortune 500 companies have already adopted the model. Co-founder Diogo Almeida, a former OpenAI researcher, told TechCrunch that while human language proficiency has advanced over the last four years, it remains ineffective for automation because computers utilize a different language.
Founded in 2024, TypeSafe was established by Almeida along with engineer and entrepreneur Erik Gafni and former Meta research engineer Sasha Sheng.
