With a $12B valuation, the OpenAI-backed firm is betting that embedding engineers into traditional businesses can solve the enterprise AI adoption gap.

Thrive Holdings has raised $2 billion in new funding, bringing the company's valuation to $12 billion, as TechCrunch first reported. The funding round included participation from Altimeter Capital, D1 Capital Partners, and SoftBank.

Unlike traditional SaaS providers, Thrive Holdings operates as a private equity-style entity that acquires traditional businesses to integrate AI into their workflows. The firm is a spinout of Thrive Capital and maintains a strategic partnership with OpenAI, which took an ownership stake in the company in December 2025. As part of that agreement, OpenAI provides employees to work directly within Thrive's acquired companies to accelerate adoption—a hands-on implementation model that TechCrunch notes may be driving investor interest.

To date, Thrive has scaled to over 70 businesses across two primary pillars:

* **Current:** An accounting arm comprising more than 50 firms and 2,000 professionals. Thrive reports its "TaxAI" agents processed over 7,000 returns with 98% accuracy, reducing preparation times by more than 30%. * **Shield:** An IT arm with approximately 20 companies. Thrive claims its AI tools have increased help desk resolution speeds by 36x.

Thrive intends to use the new capital to launch a third vertical focused on regulatory services for the built environment. Founding member Anuj Mehndiratta told TechCrunch the goal is to reduce regulatory bottlenecks in critical infrastructure, including power, healthcare, and data centers. Founding member Kareem Zaki stated that while AI will not replace professional sign-off or field work, it can streamline compliance tracking, permit preparation, and reporting.
