Sky Sports Secures US Open Extension Through 2030

Sky Sports has reached an agreement to extend its live coverage of the US Open through 2030, as The Guardian first reported. The three-year contract extension will be officially announced next week as the singles competition begins at Flushing Meadows.

Under the new terms, Sky will provide over 12 hours of daily live tennis throughout the three-week tournament, including the mixed doubles event. This follows a five-year exclusive UK rights deal Sky secured in 2023 to replace Amazon Prime.

Internal data cited by The Guardian reveals that tennis is a critical driver for Sky's demographic diversification. In 2025, Sky's tennis audience was approximately 60% female—nearly double the 31% female viewership seen across its general coverage. This demographic shift is viewed as a key asset for attracting new brands and advertisers.

The Guardian reports that interest sparked by Emma Raducanu’s 2021 US Open victory was a primary factor in Sky's decision to return to tennis bidding after exiting the sport in 2017. While Raducanu will miss the current tournament due to a shin stress fracture, the broadcaster continues to expand its footprint. Sky currently holds exclusive UK rights for the ATP and WTA tours through 2028 and is reportedly in talks to extend that partnership.

Sky's aggressive pursuit of the tennis calendar comes amid a fragmented rights landscape. While the BBC has extended its Wimbledon contract through 2033, TNT Sports currently holds the rights to the French and Australian Opens.
