Roku Debuts AI-Generated Content Stream via Fairground Partnership

Roku has expanded its free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) library with four new channels, including a 24/7 stream featuring projects from Fairground, an AI startup founded by Colin Petrie-Norris in 2025. According to reporting from The Verge, the Fairground AI Creator TV channel provides a curated stream of AI-generated videos produced by content creators partnered with the company.
While the channel is designed for passive viewing in the living room, The Verge describes the content as lacking visual polish and consisting of short-form "slop" produced by text-to-video models. Some videos appear to be trained on professionally produced anime, while others utilize CGI. Despite the lack of polish, some segments feature semi-cohesive narratives, including a fantasy inspired by The Odyssey and a horror piece. The Verge notes that Fairground is also reportedly developing AI-generated adaptations of Dracula and Robin Hood.
Fairground states that it pays its content partners for their generations and provides an undisclosed share of platform revenue. However, the company has not disclosed which AI models are used or if rights were secured for the training data. The partnership allows Fairground to reach a massive audience via Roku, targeting viewers seeking mindless background entertainment.
