Jaxon Smith-Njigba Sets New Standard for NFL Receivers

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba has ascended to the top of his position, serving as a cornerstone for the defending Super Bowl champions, as Sports Illustrated first reported. According to the outlet, Smith-Njigba led the NFL during the 2025 season, recording 1,793 receiving yards on 119 receptions with 10 touchdowns.

Smith-Njigba attributes his elite production to a combination of calmness and rigorous preparation. Speaking to the team's website, as reported by Sports Illustrated, Smith-Njigba credited daily drill work with Ricky White and receivers coach Frisman Jackson for his ability to create space and remain comfortable in difficult downfield situations.

Following his breakout season, the Seahawks secured Smith-Njigba with a contract extension. Sports Illustrated reports the deal will pay him $168.6 million over four seasons starting after his rookie contract expires in 2027. This agreement keeps Smith-Njigba under contract through 2031 and establishes him as the highest-paid wide receiver in the history of the NFL.

Coach Frisman Jackson told Sports Illustrated that Smith-Njigba's success is rooted in his humbleness and willingness to learn from teammates, regardless of their experience level. As he enters his fourth season, Smith-Njigba faces the challenge of playing as the league's leading receiver with a significant target on his back.
