Giants Sit at No. 27 in NFL.com Power Rankings as Harbaugh Era Begins

The New York Giants enter the preseason facing a skeptical outlook from analysts. As Sports Illustrated first reported, Nick Shook of NFL.com placed the Giants at No. 27 in his league-wide preseason power rankings, which puts them just behind the Arizona Cardinals. This comes after a period of struggle for New York, which has totaled only seven wins over the last two seasons and finished third or fourth in the NFC East for the past five years.

However, the Giants have taken aggressive steps to reverse their 4-13 mark from 2025. The turnaround began with the hiring of head coach John Harbaugh, who brings a Super Bowl pedigree and a track record of success from 18 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

To support Harbaugh's vision, the Giants addressed critical roster gaps with veteran additions. Sports Illustrated reports that the wide receiver corps was bolstered by bringing in Darnell Mooney, Calvin Austin III, Braxton Berrios, and Odell Beckham Jr. On the defensive line, the team added DJ Reader and Shelby Harris following the trade of Dexter Lawrence II, while Tremaine Edmunds was brought in to provide stability at linebacker.

While Shook notes that many questions remain, the Giants currently hold the 23rd-best Super Bowl odds, per DraftKings (via ESPN). The team's potential for a rapid ascent now rests on the development of young players including Jaxson Dart, Abdul Carter, and Arvell Reese.
