The Washington Commanders have secured a high-level No. 2 wide receiver to pair with Pro Bowl quarterback Jayden Daniels and receiver Terry McLaurin. According to an ESPN report cited by CBS Sports, Stefon Diggs is set to sign a one-year contract worth up to $12 million.

While the pairing is described as "perfect" by Bryan Manning of Commanders Wire, the statistical value lies in Diggs' ability to convert targets. CBS Sports Research notes that Diggs recorded an 83.3% catch rate in 2025, the second-highest mark for a wide receiver in the last 45 seasons, trailing only Michael Thomas' 85% in 2018. This efficiency is critical for optimizing Daniels' passing output, as Diggs enters his 12th season coming off a year with the New England Patriots where he led the team with 1,013 receiving yards, four touchdowns, and 85 catches.

Diggs arrives in Washington after being released by the Patriots in March due to projected cap hits rising from $10.5 million to $26.5 million over the next two seasons. Now operating as a No. 2 option opposite McLaurin, Diggs told his YouTube channel in July that he is the best No. 2 receiver in the league. First-time offensive coordinator David Blough will now integrate Diggs—who previously held a four-season streak of 100-plus catches from 2020 to 2023—into a passing attack designed to maximize Daniels' efficiency.
