Branch and Sega Pivot Gaming Chairs Toward Ergonomic Utility

Branch has released a Sega-branded edition of its Ergonomic Chair Pro, as first reported by Wired, signaling a shift toward professional office utility in the gaming furniture space. Priced at $569, the collaboration offers three designs inspired by Sega icons: a mesh-back Sonic version and vegan leather options themed after the Genesis and Dreamcast consoles.

Reporting from Wired notes that while many gaming chairs poorly emulate race car seats, the Branch collaboration focuses on office-level ergonomics. The chair features 14 adjustment points, including seat tilt, depth, lumbar support, and multiple armrest planes. Wired highlights that the Sega editions include a headrest, which is otherwise optional on the standard Ergonomic Chair Pro.

While the designs pay homage to gaming history—such as the Dreamcast version's orange stripes and controller-inspired wheel designs—they avoid the over-the-top aesthetics typical of "streamer game caves." Wired reports that the chair provides a comfortable experience for long sessions, though it notes a learning curve to dial in the various adjustments and suggests that the headrest may not be ideal for shorter users.
