Beckham's Preseason Spark Leaves Giants Roster Question

Following the game, Giants head coach John Harbaugh stated that Beckham has "done enough to make an NFL roster," though the coach did not explicitly confirm if that would be the Giants' roster.

Beckham's performance came amidst a preseason finale where other offensive players saw varying results. Quarterback Jameis Winston started the game but struggled, finishing 4-of-9 for 54 yards. Sports Illustrated reported that one of Winston's interceptions occurred after Beckham slipped coming out of a route, affecting the play's timing.

While Beckham flashed brilliance, other skill players are vying for spots. Running back Najee Harris, returning from an Achilles injury that ended his 2025 season, recorded 39 yards on 11 carries and a 20-yard screen pass. Tyrone Tracy, Jr. averaged 9.3 yards per carry with 37 yards on four attempts before exiting for a concussion check. Additionally, quarterback Jake Haener completed 6-of-7 passes for 101 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown to Xavier Gipson.

Harbaugh also faced scrutiny for his decision to keep second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart—who is currently learning a new system and working under center for the first time in his career—out of the finale to avoid risk, opting instead to rely on high-pressure practices to prepare Dart for an upcoming "must-win" divisional game.
