Bandai has announced the Tamagotchi Ring, a functional, playable version of the iconic virtual pet designed to be worn on the finger, as Engadget first reported. According to Engadget, the device is the smallest working Tamagotchi ever produced, surpassing the Mini and Nano models in compactness.
Unlike its smaller predecessors, the ring features a color screen and allows users to raise more than 30 different Tamagotchi characters. Engadget reports that while the front of the device displays three buttons for aesthetic purposes, the toy is actually operated via two buttons located on the sides. The product includes a charging cradle that allows for continued gameplay while the device is plugged in.
The ring is available in three colorways: gold/blue, silver/black, and iridescent white/pink. Pre-orders opened on August 27 and will remain open through October 6, with a scheduled release date in February 2027. The device is priced at 7,700 yen, which Engadget notes is approximately $48.
Currently, the Tamagotchi Ring is only available in Japan. Engadget reports that international resellers saw their pre-order stock sell out immediately, though Bandai has not confirmed if an official release will occur in the U.S. or other global markets.
